John Biggers Seed Project

The goal of the John Biggers Seed Project is to prepare a new generation of black artists to compete for public art commissions. That’s done by mentoring and training black artists and teaching painters how to make temporary work permanent, which would make the artwork eligible for public art funding. The project also includes replacing the John Biggers Sculpture, which was a major source of pride in North Minneapolis before it was torn down 20 years ago.
