YoUthROC is a research team that supports the growth of youth participatory action research with the goal to develop youth, kinship, and social action. YoUthROC centers Black, Indigenous, and People of Color youth and works with community partners such as Appetite for Change and other local, justice-oriented organizations and school groups. Photographed on the rooftop of the UROC building, Johnson holds a painting by Northside resident and YoUthROC member, Victoria Pope. Pope created the original canvas as a model for YoUthROC graphic identity, which represents the beginning relationship of a youth research team and serves as a tangible example of the team’s asset-based approach to agency and socially conscious, participatory research.
