5 to 7 p.m.—Cooking and Sharing of Mandala

Public artist Krista Beier will engage with the community in the creation of a piece titled Sustenance: Intersections of Body and Art. She'll make an edible mandala with produce obtained from urban farms on Minneapolis' Northside. Once completed, the mandala will be cooked, served and eaten with the community. Participants are invited to engage conversation around art, food, food justice, and well-being.

Krista Beier, in partnership with the University of Minnesota Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC), is a fiscal year 2018 recipient of a Cultural Community Partnership Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.  This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature and by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
