The Illusion of Choice: Evictions and Profit in North Minneapolis project report release event—3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30 at UROC

Sponsored by the University of Minnesota's Center for Urban and Regional Affairs, The Illusion of Choice: Evictions and Profit in North Minneapolis project aims to answer the question of why and how evictions are taking place from the perspectives of tenants and landlords themselves. Driven by community feedback, the project examines the forces that face tenants seeking housing in North Minneapolis, as well as public policy solutions and new programmatic interventions for tenants tenants negatively affected by evictions. 

​The event, The CURA Evictions Project Report Release Event and The Moving Walls of Minneapolis Art Exhibit Opening, marks the release of the project's report and will include the following: 

  • 3:30 to 5 p.m.—University researcher Brittany Lewis and her team’s research presentation, followed by a short video presenting the stories of landlords and renters followed by public comments and questions
  • 5 to 5:20 p.m.—Presentation on creation of the Social Service Run Around Simulation by the Youth Participatory Action Research team at Juxtaposition Arts
  • 5:20 to 5:30 p.m.—Introduction and brief remarks on UROC gallery art installation by artist-in-residence Nikki McComb
  • 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.—Reception
