TEC provides free training, refurbished computers to low income community members

The University of Minnesota's Technology Empowerment Center (TEC) provides a professional online training environment for community members who want to continue developing and enhancing their technology skills beyond the basics in order to be competitive in the global workforce. A unit of the University's Office for Business and Community Economic Development and located at UROC, TEC refurbishes and distributes computers to low-income communities, individuals, and community organizations; this year alone, TEC gave away more than 100 computers, valued at a total of $37,000 to help community members stay employed remotely. For an updated monthly list of TEC's free computer classes, visit TEC's Training Course Calendar web page.
