—THIS REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS IS NOW CLOSED—

UROC’S Tenth Anniversary Photo Project Request for Proposals

The University of Minnesota Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC) seeks proposals from qualified Twin Cities-based photographers for the creation of ten large format (16” x 20”) photo portraits honoring UROC’s research-based partnerships with community members.  Each portrait will feature two human foci—a  person representing the University and a person representing the community—as well as an object representing the partnership. The exhibit will be completed and installed in the UROC Gallery one week prior to UROC’s tenth anniversary public celebration scheduled for May, 2021 and will remain on permanent display at UROC.

Deliverables:

UROC will supply administrative support including contacting and scheduling the photo subjects and securing objects.  The photographer will be responsible for all remaining aspects of the project including:

  • Providing all needed equipment (lighting, backdrop, etc.) for photos (photos can be taken in a studio or onsite in the UROC building);
  • Sharing three to four photos from each shoot with the review team;
  • Managing all aspects of the printing and mounting of photos within the project’s $5,000 budget; and
  • Coordinating installation of the photographs with the UROC gallery curator.

Guidelines:

Proposal submissions will be judged on creativity, as well as on ability to bring the project to completion within the $5,000 budget.

Proposal submissions should include an artist bio, a description of the project/concept limited to 300 words, and a detailed breakdown of costs.

Terms:

All photos will remain the property of UROC, although the photographer may use the images for purposes of self-marketing and promotion.

The selected photographer will need to register as a vendor with the University of Minnesota, with the assistance of UROC staff.

Proposals should be 300 words or less and emailed to Anna Orr at [email protected] by 5 p.m., Friday, May 29.
