Tashitaa Tufaa was a refugee from Ethiopia when he arrived in Minneapolis in 1992. Today, he is the founder and CEO of Fridley-based Metropolitan Transportation Network, Inc., a multi-million dollar school bus service company that recently opened its second metro-area location on Lyndale Avenue in North Minneapolis.
MHD Awards UROC a Safe Harbor for All Planning Grant
The Minnesota Department of Health has awarded the University of Minnesota's Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center, the Advocates for Human Rights, and Rainbow Research a grant to develop a strategic plan to help guide legislators on how to extend Safe Harbor legislation to adults in order to better support victims of trafficking and exploitation.

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton, Lt. Governor Tina Smith, and the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota have released the findings of a UROC-authored report for the Young Women's Initiative of Minnesota. Action Research Engagement Process: Community-Based Knowledge for the Young Women's Initiative of Minnesota shares qualitative findings from the community-based action research engagement process conducted by a team from the University of Minnesota’s Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center (UROC) commissioned by the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota. The report is a companion to the project's Blueprint for Action.
