UROC to hold statewide sexual violence roundtables

In partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health, UROC is sponsoring a series of statewide, community roundtables on the topic of intersections of sexual violence, domestic violence, and sex trafficking beginning Monday, November 26 in Morris.  At Intersections of Sexual Violence, Domestic Violence and Sex Trafficking: Bringing the Community Together Around Prevention, participants will learn about the latest research findings and how to apply them in community contexts for collaboration and prevention.

UROC Community Day set for 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 20

UROC's annual open house event will honor North Minneapolis' vibrant history and cultural assets through a wide variety of free, family-friendly, and fun activities, displays, and programs. Record a mini-oral history of your personal Plymouth Avenue stories; find your roots in a interactive family tree; enjoy a Northside Slow Roll Bike Demo; take a trip down memory lane by sampling dishes inspired by gone-but-not-forgotten Lucille’s Kitchen, and much more.

Neighborhood U features PlantMaker Studio with arboretum experts—1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 14

University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum staff will host a PlantMaker Studio, a hands-on experience that encourages nature exploration through crafts involving plants. This Neighborhood U session will feature activities inspired by Chinese and Japanese ink brush paintings. The event is from 1 - 3 p.m. Saturday, July 14 and is free and open to all ages.

U of M's Solar-powered Race Car to visit UROC—3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16

Get up close to the University's EOS II —a super sleek, solar powered race car designed by University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering students. On hand will be University Professor Sam Mukasa, special assistant for STEM initiatives in the University’s Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, to talk with visitors about the University's Solar Vehicle Project and solar race car.
