The UROC Research Agenda: A framework for healing, equity, and financial wellbeing

UROC's newly announced Research Agenda is a framework for addressing three themes that community members and University of Minnesota researchers and practitioners identified as being critical to a thriving North Minneapolis and Twin Cities urban core. The agenda and its companion Request for Proposals aim to stimulate and guide collaborative research in the topic areas while improving outcomes through robust, long-term partnerships.

When Minneapolis became the epicenter of the nationwide protest movement against police brutality and racism in America following the death of George Floyd, Minneapolis-based Textile Center and the Women of Color Quilters Network (WCQN) joined forces to create We Are the Story, a series of seven quilt exhibitions to be presented in the Twin Cities.

U of M grads spearhead UROC staff supply drive

Driven by a need to help others, three recent University of Minnesota graduates led a UROC staff-focused supply drive for community members impacted by the economic hardships of COVID-19 and recent unrest in the wake of the killing of Minneapolis resident George Floyd. 
Following social distancing protocols, the team raised staff donations to purchase a range of much-needed items from discount retailers.

Seeds to Harvest Service Northside Volunteer Coordination Events—9:45 to 11 a.m. Saturdays beginning June 27

Seeds to Harvest Service Coalition, a community-based service coalition dedicated to responding to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and civil unrest in North Minneapolis, and the Northside Impact Fund will gathering for a volunteer coordination event in the parking lot of the UROC facility, located at 2001 Plymouth Avenue N. in Minneapolis. Supported by The Urban Impact, the volunteer coordination events will run through July 25.
